THE STORY OF THE MANUFACTURE OF THE BAGS

the origins of the manufacture of the bag.

In Ubrique, in the postwar period of 1940, women both in the factory and in the workshops, after their working day, collect pieces of cut skin. These small pieces of leather discarded by the workshops of the time, are used by these women in an activity that today is known as recycling.

These women, with great ingenuity and dexterity, make small geometric patterns with which they cut these pieces of skin. Once the remains are cut with these patterns, they make different original compositions.

When the scraps are cut out with the patterns, they skillfully made different original compositions. This artisan manufacturing is not focused in an industrial or commercial way, only for personal use or exchange of basic products such as; sugar, coffee, butter or tobacco.
